Clarence Pickett (1884-1965) was a prominent Friend. The executive secretary of the American Friends Service Committee from 1929 to 1950, he was influential in governmental and international circles as well. He served as an advisor to Presidents Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy. George A. Walton (1883-1969) was the long-time headmaster of the George School, a Quaker boarding school in Newtown, Pa. He succeeded his father, Joseph Solomon Walton, in 1912 and served until 1948.
